With over 205 lives lost and many more affected, the impact of these floods has left an indelible mark on our communities. The scenes of devastation are heart-wrenching, as entire towns remain cut off, and rescue teams continue their tireless work to reach those still trapped. Many areas are still without basic utilities like water and electricity, and roads are littered with abandoned vehicles, including those on the A7. Despite nearly 72 hours of relentless rescue efforts, authorities are now shifting from rescue to recovery, as they begin to come to terms with the enormity of this tragedy.
