The crowds have gone home, but nobody told the weather! Daytime temperatures are still sitting in the low twenties, the sea is warm enough for a proper swim, and the beaches finally have room to breathe again. It's one of our favourite months on the Costa Blanca, so this month we're bringing you what's on locally, our latest properties, what's fresh at the market, and a longer read on why October might just be Jávea's best-kept secret.
If I'm honest, this is the month I look forward to all year, the Arenal goes quiet, the light turns gold by four, and I get to enjoy this place at its best before we do it all again next summer. It's also, not so secretly, my favourite excuse to get carried away with Halloween, so watch this space. Enjoy the read.

As every year, the Teulada-Moraira Lions are hosting a free Halloween party in the Church Square on 31st October, from 6pm to 8pm. Everyone is welcome and no membership is needed, expect games with prizes for the children, face painting, a fancy dress competition for children and adults, plus a bar and live music. It's one of the highlights of the Lions' calendar, so dress up and bring the whole family.

Riders of electric scooters and other personal mobility vehicles will need to adapt to new obligations from 1 October 2026, when the Government's reform of the General Traffic Regulations comes into effect. With the date approaching, local police forces across the Marina Alta, including in Calp and Jávea, have started reminding riders what's changing. The headline points: a minimum age of 15 to ride a PMV, and a mandatory helmet for all riders, with the DGT treating a breach as a serious offence carrying a 200 euro fine.

The town hall is preparing a new edition of its consumer voucher scheme for 2026, designed to encourage spending at local shops. Before it launches, local businesses can register their interest and be added to the official directory of participating merchants. Sign-up is free and straightforward, get the details by emailing fomento.economico@ajxabia.org.

The Centre Artístic Musical de Jávea is looking for new musicians for its Youth Orchestra and Youth Band. The Orchestra is open to players from any municipality, a rare opening given how few youth orchestras exist locally, while the Band asks for a slightly higher playing level. Both rehearse on Saturdays, the Orchestra at 10am and the Band at 12pm. To find out more, contact the centre on bandaxabia@gmail.com.

August belongs to the crowds. October belongs to Jávea. Once the last of the summer visitors head home, the town settles back into itself, and this is when a lot of people who know Jávea well will tell you it's actually at its best…
Whatever brings you to Jávea this October, we hope you enjoy it. As always, get in touch any time, we're happy to talk through what's out there.
