Wine lovers can enjoy Moraira's Festa Moscatel, celebrating the area's famous Muscat grapes with tastings, local produce and traditional entertainment, while music fans won't want to miss the Xàbia Jazz Festival, which brings world-class artists to the heart of Jávea over three unforgettable summer evenings.

Jávea's Plaza de la Constitución has been given a fresh new look with the unveiling of a striking new landmark in the town centre. The disused fountain, which had remained closed for several years, has been transformed into a raised platform featuring large sculptural letters spelling "Xàbia", the local Valencian (Catalan) spelling of Jávea, creating a new focal point for residents and visitors alike.
The project not only removes the safety concerns posed by the unused fountain but also introduces a modern space designed to celebrate the town's identity. The new installation is expected to become one of Jávea's most photographed spots, providing the perfect backdrop for visitors exploring the historic centre and adding another attractive feature to one of the municipality's busiest public squares.
On Wednesday 12th August, a near-total solar eclipse will be visible across the Costa Blanca shortly before sunset. In Jávea and the Marina Alta, only a thin sliver of the Sun is expected to remain visible at the eclipse’s peak.
The event is due to begin at around 7.40 pm, reaching its maximum at approximately 8.34 pm. For the best view, choose a location with a clear outlook towards the west.
Certified eclipse glasses are essential. Ordinary sunglasses, phones, cameras, binoculars and telescopes are not safe unless fitted with specialist solar filters. The Valencian Government has issued a series of safety recommendations to help residents and visitors enjoy the event without risking damage to their eyesight.
August is a wonderful month for fresh, sun-ripened produce on the Costa Blanca. Local markets are bursting with colourful fruit and vegetables, making it the perfect time to enjoy the flavours of the Mediterranean.
Watermelons and melons are at their sweetest, while peaches, nectarines, figs and plums continue to be in abundance. Tomatoes remain at their peak, alongside peppers, cucumbers, aubergines and courgettes, all ideal for fresh salads and barbecues.
This is also the start of the grape harvest in some parts of the region, with the famous Muscat grapes beginning to appear, particularly around Jalon, Teulada and Moraira. Fresh herbs, olives and locally produced olive oil complete the perfect ingredients for relaxed summer dining.
