Christmas is just around the corner and a time to think of others less fortunate. This festive season VillaMia is supporting three worthwhile projects:
The first event is the "Christmas Bag Appeal" by Make A Smile. This fantastic charity helps many vulnerable children and once again VillaMia is one of the drop off points in Jávea for clients and supporters to drop off bags. Bags can include anything such as stationery, underwear, slippers, and chocolate, or anything else a child in care may need.
The second is to raise money which will be split equally between ISVH Bomberos Voluntarios and APAC Horse Rescue. VillaMia, Salamandra charity shop, Blu Communications, Golden Leaves International and Jávea Auto Sales have all donated funds to buy a car which we are going to give away. The car is a little Chevrolet Matiz with a 1 litre petrol engine, air conditioning, electric windows and a CD player. Tickets are on sale for 5 euros and the draw will take place on Sunday 15th January at Inn on the Green Bowls Club. Tickets are available in several outlets including VillaMia's Arenal office next to Tango. As the whole prize has been paid for by the sponsors, each 5 euro ticket sold will be a full 5 euro donation to be shared equally between the two charities and one lucky person is going to win a car.
Last but not least, we are one of the sponsors and are selling the Fiesta 2017 calendar. Available for 10 euros in the office, all proceeds go to Jávea's emergency services - Cruz Roja Jávea, Protección Civil Xàbia, Bomberos Voluntarios and ISVH Bomberos Voluntarios. It includes all red days, local and national fiestas, and the days the schools are closed too (state schools and private schools).
Michelle Hughes, owner of VillaMia, said: "Christmas is a time of giving and we want to help the community in which we serve.
"With the Christmas bags, anything can be donated such as clothing like socks, hats, scarves, pyjamas, t-shirts and jumpers, essentials like shampoo, hairbrushes, tooth brushes and paste, practical things like backpacks, memory sticks and batteries, fun things like games and toys or anything a child would like to have at Christmas. There is no need to wrap the items, simply drop them into VillaMia then we have Christmas bags and they will be sorted by the charity. Every staff member will also donate goodies to fill a bag each. We´ve seen a lot of new families move to Jávea over the last year and I hope they will support this along with everyone that helped last year.
"With the raffle for a new car, it is worth buying a ticket even if you don't want a new car as you are helping others and can always sell it on. Jávea Auto Sales has also offered to buy the car back for 2,000 euros and you have to be in it to win it.
"The calendar would make a lovely Christmas gift and has some great photographs of Jávea. It is handy to have all the school dates and fiestas as well”.
