If you are planning to relocate to the Costa Blanca North and unsure which visa is best then take a look at the differences between three popular visa options:
Digital Nomad Visa:
A Digital Nomad Visa is a type of visa that allows individuals to live and work remotely in a foreign country. This visa is specifically designed for people who work online, freelancers, or entrepreneurs who run location-independent businesses. In Spain, this visa is known as the "Digital Nomad Visa" or the "Non-Resident Tax Regime."
The Digital Nomad Visa allows the holder to work remotely in Spain without registering for a Spanish company or paying Spanish income tax. This visa requires proof of income from remote work, health insurance, and a clean criminal record.
The digital nomad visa also has a modality when people have to register autonomo, specially if their country does not issue the A1 form, in case they are workers. Initial authorization can be for one to three years but this can vary if the A1 was issued for a shorter period.
The process of obtaining the Digital Nomad Visa for Spain is relatively straightforward and can be done online through the Spanish consulate.
Non-Lucrative Visa:
The Non-Lucrative Visa is a type of visa that allows individuals to live in a foreign country for an extended period without working in that country. The non lucrative visa in theory does not allow you to work. Passive income is allowed, such as getting dividends from your company or rentals. This visa is suitable for retirees, freelancers, and digital nomads who have enough savings or income to support themselves without working locally.
In Spain, the Non-Lucrative Visa has to be processed from UK and is given initially for one year, then renewals 2 and 3 are given for 2two years each until you get a long term residency.
To qualify for this visa, applicants must have sufficient financial means to support themselves, medical insurance, a clean criminal record, and pass a medical examination. In contrast to the Digital Nomad Visa, the Non-Lucrative Visa requires proof of income from sources other than work, such as investments, pensions, or rental income.
Golden Visa:
The Golden Visa is a type of visa that grants residency to individuals who invest a significant amount of money in a foreign country. In Spain, the Golden Visa requires a minimum investment of €500,000 plus IVA in real estate, a deposit in a Spanish bank account, or investing in a Spanish company - in one name. If property is in two names it has to be a million. If the investment is in cash it is also one million.
This visa is suitable for investors and entrepreneurs who want to do business or expand their activities in Spain.
The Golden Visa allows the holder to live and work in Spain, travel freely within the Schengen Area, and apply for permanent residency after five years. Unlike the Digital Nomad Visa and the Non-Lucrative Visa, the Golden Visa requires a significant investment, and applicants must prove the legality of their funds.
