Christmas is fast approaching and the perfect time to think of others less fortunate. VillaMia – the leading long term rental agency in Javea - is supporting two worthwhile projects and calling all clients past and present and locals to help this festive season.
The first project is the "Christmas Bag Appeal 2017" by Make A Smile. This charity helps many local children in care and this is the 9thyear the appeal has been run. VillaMia, on the Arenal in Javea, is once again a drop off point in Jávea for clients and supporters to leave bags for the vulnerable and less fortunate children. Bags can include anything such as stationery, pyjamas and slippers, hats and scarves, and games, or anything else a child in care may need.
There are also various other drop off points covering Calpe, Moraira, Benidorm, Jalon Valley, Benissa, Altea and Albir and other locations.
VillaMia is also one of the sponsors and are selling the Fiesta 2017 calendar. Available for 10 euros in the office, all proceeds go to Jávea´s emergency services - Cruz Roja Jávea, Protección Civil Xàbia, Bomberos Voluntarios and ISVH Bomberos Voluntarios. It includes all red days, local and national fiestas, and the days the schools are closed too (state schools and private schools).
Michelle Hughes, owner of VillaMia, said: "We have always been keen to support the local community and give something back whenever we can.
"It is awful to think these children, aged from just one to 17, are in safe houses and wont be having a lovely Christmas like the majority of children. This time of year is especially hard and a bag with some goodies will really make a difference to them. If you are shopping somewhere like Iceland or Primark maybe pick up an extra item or two and drop into the office. There is no need to wrap anything and you don’t need to fill a bag, every little thing will help. The charity will then pick these up and distribute them.
"I know the charity really need socks, pants and vests for children aged 7 to 15. They are hoping to give each child a new outfit but with 96 kids it is not going to be easy. Please lets all come together and see if we can make this possible.
"The calendar will make a lovely Christmas gift and has some great photographs of Jávea. It is handy to have all the school dates and fiestas in one place as well.”
