FC Real Madrid have won their 30th La Liga football title and have won their first silverware for 4 years.
In a tense finale to the La Liga season Madrid were trailing 1-0 at half time to Mallorca in a game they need to win to overtake their rivals, Barcelona who were winning their game comfortably.
2 goals from substitute Jose Antonio Reyes, currently on loan from arsenal helped turn the tide and Real finally won 3-1 to take the title from their Catalan rivals in the last half an hour of the season.
The result sparked wild celebrations throughout Madrid, particularly at the Cibeles Fountain in the centre of Madrid where about 500,000 fans were joined by the Real Madrid players who arrived on an open-top bus to join in the party |
